Monday April 3rd : Iquitos, Peru
All aboard Star Peru
In Lima, Peru airport, we left the food court and headed down to the ticket booth to check-in our luggage on a local airline called “Star Peru”. We were able to check-in all 5 luggages and carry our backpacks to the gate. We were able to meet this sweet young Peruvian girl who came to talk with us because she was flying for the first time alone. Her name was Loanna, which could mean the following : “Gracious Lord, God’s good, Awesome, Adorable, and Amazing”. She definitely showcased her name by being sweet, gracious, and fun. It was so nice to meet her despite the language barrier. Sarah was able to grow in her language learning by conversing with her Spanish. It was great to see!
In the Peruvian Sky!
Next, we board a bus to take us to our flight! Sarah and I get seats together and I was excited to see Peru without it being dark (see previous post). Even so, the moment I was on the plane I instantaneously fell asleep. Sarah was unable to sleep for 24 hours but my body was not going to allow it. See the photo that Sarah sneakily took of me. Ha. ha. ha.

I was unable to take pictures because my mind was focused on dream. Lol. Even so, Sarah was gracious and sleep deprived enough to take these gorgeous photos of Peru from the sky in the day time!

Landed in Iquitos, Peru!
Once we landed in Iquitos, I finally woke up. Ha ha ha. We were able to grab our luggage from baggage claim and meet our host missionary family!
Iquitos, Peru is a large town in the middle of the Amazon! It was so fun driving around town! It is a fairly large town filled was busy life of MotoKarro and motorcycles! I found a market named Hope Market! I found it interesting because hope in Spanish is esperanza. If Peruvians here, have a hard time pronouncing Esohe I will introduce myself as “Esperanza”. What a beautiful name!

The Amazon !
In Iquitos, I hear the beautiful soundtrack of the Amazon! There are so many birds along with the intermittent rainfall sounds! It is humid, but the rain allows for cooler temperatures. I really enjoy the weather here! One of the main animals I want to see in the Amazon are parrots!
We were talking with our host missionary family and they state since we are more in town I may not be able to see parrots because they live away for protection from being captured. Somehow, the missionary could tell that it was about to rain, so I hurried up to our apartment to close the door.
Instantly, it started to raining, pretty hard, I stayed in the apartment until the rain ceased. Once the rain had ceased, I opened the door and saw 3 parrots fly overhead and land on a tall tree! I have a picture to prove it! I am so thankful God allowed me to see these beautiful creatures as a welcome to the Amazon!

After a long day of travel, we ate lunch, took showers, and promptly went to sleep right after lunch at 4 pm. Sarah was able to sleep 14 hours since she was up 24 hours! I was able to sleep very well too!
Until Next Time,
Esohe
