Wednesday, April 5th: So Much To See
Today, is the last day to ourselves to see the city of Iquitos!
Sarah and I are going grocery shopping at the local market with Pastora Anna. For 20.00 soles a day, she is cooking breakfast, lunch, and dinner for us while we stay in la vivienda (apartment).
En la manana (morning) , we woke up around 6 am and headed out the door to meet Pastora Anna at their Christian school called Colegio Kairos. Anna’s husband, Willy, is the principle. Sarah and I will return to the school next week to teach the English and Christian class.
As we are on our way toward Colegio Kairos to meet Pastora Anna, I am so impressed by Sarah’s increased learning in Spanish! We are able to obtain the MotoKar and go where we need to go with Sarah’s ability to speak Spanish. I am thankful for her and it is increasing my desire to learn more Spanish.
I love the MotoKar! It is so refreshing with the sun and the breezy view of Iquitos, Peru!

The Market!
The Market was a great experience! There is a wide variety of fish, poultry, vegetables, and fruits!
Souvenir Shop
After the market, Sarah and I went sightseeing in the tourist area. We found the local souvenir shop and found out about the Loreto area. Loreto is a local region where the city of Iquitos sits in. Loreto is a unique region because it is the only reach via air or boat. Iquitos is the only city in the world unreachable via car (https://www.peru.travel/en/destinations/loreto).
The local souvenir shop is called “Asociación de Artesanos Anaconda” it is a great place to find handcrafted artisan gifts.
Yummy Peruvian Food
Sarah and I found a restaurant with the local fish dish called “Gamitana”. Next, we had to try the local icre cream! I had Aguaje which is a local fruit. The Aguaje ice cream tastes very strange until Sarah mentioned that it tasted like pumpkin spice ice cream! Haha once her comment allowed me to really enjoy the ice cream!

Overall, today was a great and busy day! Tomorrow we head to a Gloria de Dios Campground! I am a little nervous but excite to start!
Until next time,
